Is membership of the EU guaranteed? Obviously the SNP desires it, but would an independent Scotland be grandfathered in as a member, or go to the back of the queue, behind Turkey?

Damned few, and they're a' deid.

Isn't the point that increasingly few Tories care about the union. They are far more consumed by English nationalism: English votes for English laws etc. And in that at least they are tacitly (and sometimes openly) encouraged by Salmond, who seems to take great pleasure in winding up the English. If there is to be a separation, be it constitutional or merely de facto (your 75% independence), it is now just as likely to come with England 'breaking away' and leaving Edinburgh to handle its own affairs and in so doing make likely a long period of SNP rule north of the border and Tory rule to the south. Labour will be left with Angelsey and its environs.
